🌊 Jet Ski Safety 101: What Every Rider Should Know Before Renting

Jet skiing is one of the most thrilling ways to enjoy the water — but safety always comes first. Whether you’re a first-time rider or a regular at Scarborough Bluffer’s Park, following these basic safety measures will make sure your adventure is fun and safe. 🚤✨

🦺 1. Always Wear a Life Jacket

This is non-negotiable. A properly fitted life jacket keeps you afloat if you fall off. Even strong swimmers need one — waves and currents can surprise anyone.

👓 2. Listen to the Safety Briefing

Before heading out, pay close attention to the operator’s instructions. Learn how to start/stop, steer, and what to do if you fall off.

🚫 3. No Alcohol or Drugs

Operating a jet ski requires full focus. Riding under the influence puts you, your passengers, and others at risk. Stay sharp, stay safe.

📱 4. Keep a Way to Communicate

Have a phone in a waterproof case or a radio for emergencies. On open water, quick communication can save lives.

🌬️ 5. Check Weather & Water Conditions

Don’t underestimate Lake Ontario! Winds and waves can change in minutes. If conditions look rough, wait it out.

⚠️ 6. Respect Speed Limits & No-Wake Zones

  • Speed limit near shore: 9 km/h within 150m of land or docks.
  • Stay out of swimming areas and always keep an eye out for buoys and markers.

👥 7. Don’t Ride Alone

It’s safer (and more fun) to go out with a buddy. If one jet ski has trouble, the other can help.

✅ Final Word

Jet skiing is an unforgettable experience, but safety is the key to keeping it that way. At JetSki GTA, we make safety our top priority — life jackets are provided and must be worn, and every renter gets a full briefing before launch.

So gear up, ride smart, and make memories on the water! 🌊🚤☀️
